Zara sets Auckland opening date

Zara1International retailer, Zara, will open its first store in New Zealand at Kiwi Property’s Sylvia Park Shopping Centre in Auckland on October 6.

Chris Gudgeon, Kiwi Property chief executive, said the Zara store’s opening date closely follows H&M, which is due to open in spring.

“We are excited that Zara, one of the world’s most successful retail brands, has chosen to open its first New Zealand store at Sylvia Park,” Gudgeon said.

“It takes a significant investment in time and money to launch in new markets, so we are thrilled to be chosen as the pick of the New Zealand retail centres for this outstanding brand.”

Gudgeon said Zara will be joining a strong line up of existing domestic and international retailers, including newcomers Kiehl’s, Converse, Nike and Adairs.

“We’re delighted that Sylvia Park continues to strengthen its position as the leading shopping destination in the country as we welcome new arrivals and celebrate the Sylvia Park retail success story,” he added.

Kiwi Property has made an $11.5 million investment to accommodate the Spanish fashion chain’s retail space.

“Zara’s beautiful store is located in the heart of the fashion precinct and its opening next month marks the successful completion of an eight-month project,” said Gudgeon.
