Hellaby to restructure footwear group

hannahs, hellabyHellaby Holdings has appointed new specialist retail consultants to advise and implement the restructure of its footwear division.

The company’s footwear group consists of Number One Shoes and Hannahs, which make up approximately 25 per cent of the New Zealand footwear market, the company stated.

Alan Clarke, Hellaby CEO and managing director, said both brands will continue to operate in the marketplace, with centralisation to allow for economies of scale and strong market positioning that will improve profitability over time.

The combined business will be government by the newly established Footwear Group advisory board, to be chaired by Clarke, and will include senior team members from Hellaby, Hannahs and Number One Shoes, along with two full time external appointments, John Elliott and Roger Harper, and an independent footwear retail expert, Ron Halls.

Clarke said Elliott, Harper and Halls all bring deep retail leadership and executive experience.

“John and Roger will be working full time with the footwear teams and management to build a new group that is New Zealand’s leading national footwear retailer that employs over 1,000 staff nationwide,” said Clarke.
