Glassons’ new look

GlassonGlassons’ new store design is part of the clothing retailer’s push to stand out in the specialty fashion market, according to Graeme Popplewell, CEO of Hallenstein Glasson.

Glassons first unveiled the new concept late last year in Australia at the redeveloped Macquarie Centre in Sydney’s North Ryde and Westfield Bondi Junction.

Inside Retail New Zealand understands one of the first Glasson stores in New Zealand to have the new look will be its new site in Christchurch’s CBD, located at the new ANZ Centre building.

The two level store will house Glassons on the ground floor and Hallensteins on level one, with Glassons to cover 456sqm and Hallensteins 452sqm in an integrated store, with digital screens, inspirational displays, and upbeat music.

“For Glassons in New Zealand it’s more about putting that new fitout into new locations,” Popplewell said.

For the Australian market, Popplewell says the company will be carefully selecting new locations, and the rollout would be based more on sites, rather than numbers.

“The plan in the Australian market is to upgrade existing stores, but that is very dependent on negotiations we have with stores, so it’s not going to happen overnight.

“[Expansion] is more about getting the right location, that are geographically correct and also fit the brand,” he said.

“It’s still really early [with the new look] but we have been really excited by the results.”
