Kiwi vaping business reaches 1000 outlets

A man vaping.

The largest Kiwi-owned vaping business, Alt New Zealand, has reached a milestone 1000 outlets, having products now accessible across supermarkets, independent convenience stores, as well as eight VAPO branded locations.

The 1000th outlet came through a new supplier agreement with Mobil, with the business’ products now available in New Zealand’s three leading service stations; Mobil, Z, and BP.

“Credit solely belongs to our more than 70 staff who’ve delivered incredible growth in a very short time, and to our distributors and suppliers who have been keen to support a New Zealand-owned business focused on helping smokers to quit,” Alt New Zealand co-founder Jonathan Devery said.

“Going live with Mobile really confirms our superior reach and locks in our number one status.”

According to both founders, Devery and co-founder Ben Pryor, the New Zealand Government’s decision to take vaping more seriously – with the Health Promotion Agency set to launch a campaign to convince smokers to shift to vaping – is a good step.

“If New Zealand is to get anywhere close to being Smoke Free in 2025, accessibility of vaping products is critical, as is more acceptance overall for vaping’s proven health and economic advantages,” Pryor said.

“There are possible 200,000 vapers in New Zealand and growing. That’s why we’re seeing smoking rates falling.

“Having our products in at least 1,000 outlets can only be positive for the thousands of Kiwis desperate to quit smoking who are looking for a brand they know and trust.”
