Cartier has opened its first boutique in New Zealand, marking a significant step in the luxury house’s retail expansion across Oceania.
Located at 66 Queen Street in the city’s CBD, the 376sqm boutique is Cartier’s eighth location in the Oceania region and expands on the brand’s longstanding presence in New Zealand through its wholesale partner.
The boutique occupies a landmark heritage building, formerly the Imperial Hotel, which dates back to 1883. Its design combines the building’s historic character with Cartier’s contemporary retail concept.
Drawing inspiration from Auckland’s identity as the City of Sails, the interior features fluid forms and layered textures referencing the movement of wind and water. New Zealand’s coastlines, native forests and coastal light also inform the design.
“The opening of our first boutique in New Zealand marks an exciting chapter for Cartier in Oceania,” said Thomas Crye, MD of Cartier Oceania.
“This boutique celebrates our enduring commitment to exceptional savoir-faire while celebrating the richness of New Zealand’s artistic heritage, and we look forward to welcoming our clients into this remarkable new home for Cartier in Auckland.”
The boutique offers Cartier’s full range of jewellery, watches, bridal creations, leather goods, accessories and fragrances.
