New Zealand wellness franchise O-Studio is set to move into the Australian market early next year, with plans to open 100 locations by 2030.
The brand, founded by former Maori All Blacks captain Tim Bateman, currently operates seven studios, with two more slated to open this year and another four confirmed for next year.
The studio provides services including float therapy, sauna, ice baths, massage, and recovery tools.
“O-Studio began when my wife Laura was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis,” said Bateman, who is also CEO of the company.
“During her treatment in Singapore, we experienced the power of recovery tools first-hand. They weren’t just life-changing for Laura – they helped me manage the stress we were facing at home and perform better on the field.
“That experience lit the fire to bring these tools home, and seeing that vision now expand into Australia is incredibly exciting.”
O-Studio’s owner group includes current All Black Luke Jacobson, Olympian Brooke Hayde, former professional rugby player Tony Ensor, former MP Anna Lorck, and two-time cancer survivor Kate Twigg.
This expansion is the brand’s first outside of New Zealand and is supported through a partnership with franchise company BeWell Brands, the organisation behind Jetts Fitness’s expansion into Australia, the UK, Thailand, the Netherlands, and India.
“We know the Australian market will love the O-Studio concept, with people looking beyond the gym floor to look after their mind and body,” said Elaine Jobson, CEO of BeWell Brands.
The expansion comes as the wellness industry is seeing a global surge, with burnout affecting 61 per cent of New Zealand workers each year and 59 per cent of Australians experiencing major stress annually.
