Kiwi resale fashion platform Designer Wardrobe (DW) has launched an AI-powered tool to streamline the product listing process required for its online vendors.

The AI-assisted feature allows less manual work in creating product listings on the platform by generating a product’s title, description, and details from DW vendors’ photos uploaded from their camera roll.

“Popularity for pre-loved fashion in New Zealand continues to skyrocket, and we’re seeing more people than ever list their items,” said Aidan Bartlett, CEO of Designer Wardrobe.

He said sellers can now reduce the time it takes to create a list of five items from 10 minutes to less than 30 seconds with the tool, as measured in the company’s early testing.

Besides automatically filling products’ information such as brand, category and colour, the AI listing tool also offers real-time pricing suggestions based on recent sales data from DW marketplace.

“Pricing can be difficult to navigate, especially if you only sell occasionally,” said Bartlett.

“Our pricing tool gives sellers confidence that they’re listing at a fair market price, while also giving buyers reassurance they’re getting a good deal.”

Last year, Designer Wardrobe entered Australia, committing to supporting Aussies to address fashion waste in landfills.

According to WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), an individual owns around 31 items unworn for at least a year, equivalent to more than 25 per cent of wardrobes going unused.
