Stihl Shop, 100% Appliances, Mitre 10 and Samsung’s online store are the top four places New Zealanders say give them the best shopping experience.

The retailers have been named winners of the 2023 People’s Choice award after scoring a significantly higher satisfaction rating than other stores in Consumer NZ’s annual survey.

This is the ninth time 100% Appliances has won a People’s Choice award. The company ranked first in the small appliances category with 91 per cent of its customers saying they were very satisfied.

In the mobile tech category, Samsung took the top place from Apple Store after closing all its physical locations in the country this year.

Both Stihl Shop and Mitre 10 won the People’s Choice award in the hardware and gardening category. Stihl Shop was rated highly for its range of products, prices, service and product availability, while Mitre 10 wowed customers with “helpful and knowledgeable staff”.

“If you’re deciding where to do your Black Friday or Christmas shopping, we think you’re most likely to have a great experience at these four stores,” said Gemma Rasmussen, head of research and advocacy at Consumer NZ.
