Kuala Lumpur’s The Exchange TRX unveils launch date

New retail precinct The Exchange TRX is set to open its doors in the heart of Kuala Lumpur on November 29, marking Lendlease’s largest integrated development in Asia.

The development will be home to 400 stores, a 95 per cent occupancy rate, with a 1.3 million sqft net lettable area. Some of the key retailers featured at The Exchange TRX include Gentle Monster, Maison Kitsune, and Marimekko. Beauty brand Drunk Elephant will also open its first global brick-and-mortar store at the shopping mall.

Spanning four levels and occupying about 250,000sqft, the Japanese department store Seibu will be Malaysia’s first department store to carry more than 400 luxury international and Japanese fashion brands, 100 of which will enter the market for the first time.

“Our strong tenancy rate is a resounding vote of confidence given by leading international and local brands for the new retail concept that Lendlease is introducing to the market with The Exchange TRX,” said Mitch Wilson, project director for The Exchange TRX and head of retail for Lendlease Malaysia.

The premise will also feature a 10-acre rooftop public-activated park, housing a biodiverse ecosystem of more than 150,000 plantings from nearly 150 native plant species. The park will also serve as a venue to host red-carpet galas, festivals, concerts, movie premieres, and international exhibitions.
