Chemist Warehouse has launched its largest store yet inside a shopping centre yet at the newly-opened The Palms.
The new Christchurch store, the latest tenancy to be added to The Palms’ retail mix, features a footprint of more than 1000sqm, creating more than 30 jobs for the community. To mark the launch, the retailer will host an event later this month featuring its brand ambassador and New Zealand rugby legend, Dan Carter.
“We have had a strong year of expansion despite all the challenges of Covid-19,” said Azman Haroon, CEO of Chemist Warehouse New Zealand. “The effects of this pandemic are unprecedented, and we have had to tailor our day-to-day running of the stores across the country to the evolving situation.”
In addition, free prescriptions will be available at Chemist Warehouse The Palms, meaning customers will not be charged the $5 prescription fee on all subsidised scripts.
The launch is part of the company’s expansion plan in the country, which will see its store network grow to 30 by the end of this year.
“The brand is rapidly expanding, with the current group of 26 stores, including now four in Christchurch,” Haroon added.
