Rebel Sport launches game experience with Facebook Playable Ads

Rebel Sport has launched an AR-game app called ‘Play by Rebel Sport’ with Facebook Playable Ads.

The interactive app offers $15,000 worth of prizes, with basketball the first game to launch.

According to the retailer, app downloads will be mainly driven by a New Zealand-first opportunity ‘Facebook Playable Ads’, which features a demo of the game within Facebook and allows users to trial the app experience and drive downloads. Gamers can also access the app by “aiming their phone straight at Play by Rebel Sport posters in stores to get playing”.

The app is a result of a partnership between Rebel Sport and agency Stanley St.

“Whilst using some traditional ways to promote this competition, the focus of this campaign is on a New Zealand first opportunity, Facebook Playable Ads,” said Dan West, head of strategy for Stanley St. “This is an entirely new way for brands to create a two-way engagement with their audience.”

According to Fiona Stewart, group marketing manager of Rebel Sport, the prizes will be granted to the top 15 players together with a collection of instant prizes from Rebel Sport’s partners such as Under Armour, Wilson and Mitchell & Ness.
