Pottery Barn, West Elm opening in Ballantynes

The new deal will have three concept stores.

A selection of furniture and homewares from popular US retail chains Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm is coming to New Zealand, thanks to a partnership between Williams-Sonoma, which owns the Pottery Barn and West Elm businesses, and local department store Ballantynes.

The partnership will see three concept stores open in Ballantynes stores in Christchurch and Timaru, with the curated range becoming available on the Ballantynes website for customers in other regions.

“Adding [Ballantynes] to our network is a significant step in our continuing global expansion,” Williams-Sonoma global executive vice president Ronald Young said.

“As New Zealand’s oldest department store, we look forward to a strong relationship and long-term success as we prepare to introduce our distinctive brands and exceptional products to customers in New Zealand.”

Williams-Sonoma operates retail, wholesale and franchise stores in the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, the UK and the Middle East.

J Ballantyne & Co Ltd chief executive Maria O’Halloran said the department store is thrilled to be the US homewares retailer’s New Zealand partner.

“Offering the very latest styling, décor and furnishings, these brands will give our customers a source of inspiration to make their space comfortable and true to their own style,” O’Halloran said.

“We will have curated collections from these brands with new lines arriving throughout the year. Complementing our existing range of national and international brands, we are proud to be the home of Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids and West Elm in New Zealand.”
