JB Hi-Fi appoints NZ managing director

cherie kerrison JBJB Hi-Fi has appointed Cherie Kerrison as managing director of the company’s New Zealand business.

The former owner and general manager of The Appliance Shed is responsible for all facets of the retailer’s business in New Zealand.

“Cherie has strong supplier relationships, a deep understanding of the New Zealand retail market, and a proven track record in building successful teams,” JB Hi-Fi group chief executive Richard Murray said.

“Cherie will bring a wealth of strategic and operational experience to our business along with a proven track record in the New Zealand retail market.”

Kerrison replaces general manager of buying Rod Korff, who will return to work for JB Hi-Fi in Australia after three years in New Zealand.

Korff oversaw the rebranding of four JB Hi-Fi home stores, the launch of the New Zealand website in 2017 and the subsequent growth in online sales.

“We continue to see encouraging signs through the repositioning of the JB Hi-Fi business in New Zealand and it is, therefore, the right time for Rod to return to our Australian Support Office in late December and take up a position in our merchandising team,” Murray said.

“I thank Rod for this significant contribution to the New Zealand business.”

Kerrison will take up her new position at JB Hi-Fi on October 1, 2018.
