Kitchenware brand Tupperware has made a comeback in New Zealand, offering its full product range online.
After a four-year absence from the market, Tupperware has partnered with local distributor Hag to launch an e-commerce platform this month. Retail partnerships are expected to be announced in the coming months.
The initial product line available online includes traditional storage containers, meal-prep solutions, lunchboxes, and reusable water bottles in updated colour options.
Key categories feature the modular pantry system, freezable containers, microwavable options with steam-release valves, the eco bottle line, and the heritage series featuring the brand’s original sunburst lid design.
Tupperware first entered New Zealand in the 1970s but ceased local trading in 2022 due to disruptions in its traditional party-plan sales model during the pandemic.
The brand’s return coincides with its 80th anniversary, commemorating the development of the airtight seal by founder Earl Tupper in the 1940s.
Daniel Grundmann, director of sales and head of product at Hag, noted that the relaunch pairs the brand’s traditional structural design and durability with updated offerings tailored to contemporary cooking and storage needs.
He added that the transition to direct-to-consumer online sales and upcoming retail placements aligns with modern shopping habits while maintaining the brand’s historical core product features.
“For so many families, Tupperware isn’t just food storage – it’s memories. It’s lunchboxes packed before school, leftovers after Sunday dinner, and products that have been passed down through generations,” said Grundmann.
“We’re incredibly proud to bring Tupperware back to New Zealand with the same quality, durability and iconic designs people remember, alongside products designed for the way we cook, store and live today.”
