Moochi debuts in Australia, marking first global expansion

Womenswear brand Moochi has entered the Australian market, making its first foray beyond New Zealand after 25 years of operation.

The debut will see Moochi launch a dedicated Australian e-commerce platform, alongside the release of its first 2026 collection, Palette One: Construct, in January.

Following a steady demand from Australian customers who have been purchasing via the brand’s NZ online store, the country will serve as a test market for its digital-led entry and DTC model. This approach allows Moochi to fully understand local shoppers before moving forward with brick-and-mortar opportunities, thus fuelling broader global ambitions in other markets such as the US and UK.

“After 25 years of becoming one of New Zealand’s most loved brands, it’s with great excitement that Moochi arrives in Australia,” said Morgan Taylor, Australian marketing and business manager at Moochi. “Starting online allows us to learn quickly and intentionally, while staying true to the premium experience our customers expect.”

The company chose to stick with humility for this expansion, she emphasised.

Founded in 2000 by Kellie and Chris Taylor, Moochi carries the modern minimalism into its locally rooted designer pieces across 13 physical stores and e-commerce channels. The brand caters to women who prefer versatile outfitting solutions – whether for work, weekend, or daily appearance.

“While New Zealand and Australia share similarities, we respect that they are very different. This launch is about listening, learning and ensuring we meet the Australian customer where she is,” Taylor added.

Moochi’s recently launched Palette One: Construct collection, which comes to life in a duality of soft and bold colour shades, is now available via its ANZ websites.

Its upcoming offerings will be supported by three sub-labels: Moochi, Six & Seven and Key Pieces.
