A new wine retailing and experiential concept store has debuted in Auckland.

Normanby Fine Wine & Spirits in Mount Eden introduces a fresh take on wine and spirits retail that enhances experience-driven approaches, including serving fresh food and beverages.

Located at 31a Normanby Road, the space is led by veteran wine expert Liz Wheadon and combines a retail store, wine bar and cafe, private tasting room and art gallery interior.

The store features more than 1300 wines, spirits, sakes, and craft beers. Many of the offerings are exclusive to Normanby, sourced through long-standing industry connections with producers.

“We wanted to create something we couldn’t quite find elsewhere – an environment where choosing wine, spirits and sake, whether in person or online, is enjoyable, approachable, and genuinely interesting, no matter your taste or budget,” said Liz Wheadon, who also serves as director of wine at Webb’s.

“Normanby is fine wine and spirits – done differently – and we’re incredibly excited to open our doors to a new era of retail.”

The space is elegantly designed, featuring art and furniture curated by The Estate at Webb’s, all of which are available for purchase. The cafe serves coffee, pastries and light meals during the day, while the wine bar offers pre-batched cocktails by Theo Tjandra (formerly Panacea) in the evenings.

The private tasting room, La cave, can seat up to 15 guests and is available for intimate events, bespoke experiences and private celebrations.

The brand also plans to expand Normanby’s retail concept to regional locations across New Zealand.
