Comvita’s store at Auckland International Airport Duty Free received high recognition at the New
Zealand Retail Interiors Association Awards.

The interior design studio, Blur the Lines, which designed the space, took home the Supreme Award for its work, which includes an art installation ceiling feature made of 10,000 beeswax-dipped fabric cones from Comvita’s own hives.

The 14sqm space also has a custom LED screen, which plays motion graphics of flowing honey and bees, scent and sound from the hive and a four-minute iPad honey-tasting experience.

“We approach every project with the same ethos, to translate brands and their stories into innovative spaces that push boundaries and even though this was a very tricky, small site, we managed to pull off something we are very proud of,” said Danielle Barclay, Blur the Lines creative director.

The project also bagged awards for the health and beauty category, innovation excellence, and digital Integration excellence.

In August, Comvita announced changes to its CEO and some other leadership roles as part of a “strategic reset” of the business.
