Platypus opens 200th store, promises 30 more by June

Sneaker retailer Platypus has opened its 200th store, marking a “significant” milestone in the company’s history.

Platypus has already launched nine new locations this year, with plans to establish an additional 30 by the end of June.

Platypus, which was acquired by Accent Group in 2007, currently has 167 stores in Australia and 34 in New Zealand.

Platypus intends to continue its rapid regional expansion, having previously opened outlets in Alice Springs, Mildura, Coffs Harbour, and Albury.

“We will be refitting our Chadstone Flagship store in early 2024, with a new premium fit-out, that will focus on hosting an elevated product assortment, dedicated marketing strategy and best-in-class team,” said Armando Pedruco, divisional CEO, retail brands.

“Then other flagship stores will be refitted to sit within this model, such as Pacific Fair.”

Platypus continues to be at the forefront of young trends, continually leading the market with important brands such as Dr Martens, Vans, New Balance, Converse, Crocs, and Adidas.
