Countdown rolls out Direct-to-Boot service

Woolworths New Zealand will roll out in the coming months a free pick-up service across 23 selected stores in the country.

The service called Direct-to-Boot will allow online customers to drop by the store for a Countdown staff member to load their order into the car boot.

“There’s no need to get the kids out of the car and head into the store to pick up your order anymore – it’s just pull up, open the boot for our team and you’re done. It really couldn’t be easier,” said Mark Wolfenden, digital director at Woolworths New Zealand.

The supermarket chain aims to implement Direct-to-Boot in 42 stores by February next year.

“During our Direct-to-Boot trial, we’ve heard really fantastic feedback from some of our older customers and also those with young families who all find Direct-to-Boot incredibly convenient for their lifestyles.”

Direct to Boot requires a minimum purchase of NZ$50.

Woolworths says Direct to Boot joins Elockers, Milkrun, Express 60-minute pick-up, same-day delivery and pick-up in its repertoire of online shopping fulfilment services.
