Fashion and lifestyle brand Seasalt has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in New Zealand, in partnership with franchise partner Ballantynes in Auckland.

The launch marks the brand’s first standalone location outside Europe and celebrates its almost 10-year relationship with Ballantynes. Seasalt first opened its international concept store as a branded concession within the Ballantynes Christchurch store in 2021.

The Auckland store incorporates the company’s new retail concept, which uses New Zealand-sourced sustainable materials and furnishings designed by local manufacturers that can be reused or recycled, with the goal of reducing the store’s carbon footprint by more than two-thirds.

As the sole New Zealand-based distributor, Ballantynes intends to create more partner-owned Seasalt stores in coming years, with the next scheduled for the Milford Centre.

Seasalt, founded in Cornwall four decades ago by Don Chadwick, has 69 stores across the UK and Ireland. It also boasts hundreds of stockists across the UK and Europe, including agreements with M&S, Next, QVC, and Zalando.
