Countdown will end its partnership with the AA Smartfuel rewards program next year, with plans to launch its own new loyalty platform.

Since 2016, the partnership gave fuel discounts and rewards to consumers at participating retailers.

Mark Wolfenden, Countdown’s director of loyalty, said the retailer was proud to have worked with AA Smartfuel during the past seven years, but it was time for a change.

“Our partnership with AA Smartfuel continues until early 2024, members can collect points or cents per litre discounts to redeem rewards as normal.

“Members will also be able to redeem every reward they have earned when the current program ends.”

Countdown, owned by Woolworths Group of Australia, says it will offer members of its Onecard program more personalised value and experiences. Further details will be revealed later this year.
