The Warehouse reassures frontline retail staff in wake of jobs cut plan

The Warehouse Group says frontline retail store staff will not be affected by the company’s decision to cut about 190 roles across the business.

A spokesperson told Inside Retail the roles are all in support offices in Auckland “and do not affect store-based teams”.

The company talked through a restructuring plan with support office staff last week.

“This proposed change will allow us to deliver even more value to our customers and further align our digital capabilities while responding to challenging market conditions,” the spokesperson said.

In an earlier statement to Radio New Zealand, the company said: “This proposed change will allow us to deliver even more value to our customers and further align our digital capabilities while responding to challenging market conditions.”

Last November, The Warehouse Group launched a volunteer leave program.
