Foodstuffs North Island has opened its $7.5 million New World Newmarket store in Auckland.

The 900sqm has been opened in a building which used to serve as a power transfer station. It has been refurbished, incorporating an industrial-style fit out with sustainable features such as energy-saving doors on produce and chiller fridges.

The store offers ready-to-go foods, deli goods, baked goods, freshly made coffee and groceries for the surrounding urban community.

Morgan McCann, Foodstuffs North Island’s GM of retail, welcomed Matt Hayward as the store’s first-time owner at the helm.

“Each of our stores are proudly locally owned and operated and becoming a co-op member and owning your first store takes many years of hard work and commitment to the grocery industry.”

Foodstuffs North Island also opened two new Four Squares at Cambridge and St Heliers in August, and a $17 million New World supermarket for the Wairoa community in July.
