Foodstuffs South Island launches online shopping – town by town

Foodstuffs South Island is to start rolling out online shopping across its New World and Pak’nSave supermarket chains.

The launch is set to be carried out town by town throughout the South Island during the next year, from Motueka down to Invercargill.

New World Rangiora will be the first store to go live this week, followed by Pak’nSave Rangiora next Monday and New World Kaiapoi the following Monday (July 19). All Christchurch New World stores will offer online shopping by Christmas.

Given each store is owner-operated, the range available online will depend on the range available in individual stores. Orders will be picked and packed in the supermarkets rather than sourced from standalone ‘dark’ stores as rival Countdown is doing in major cities.

“Shoppers know Pak’nSave has New Zealand’s lowest food prices and offering the choice of online shopping is another way to provide value for our customers,” said Damian Lynch, GM strategy and people at Foodstuffs South Island.

“Not only will they save on groceries, but they will also save on time.”

Both the supermarket chains also offer ‘Click & Collect’ where customers can choose a store to collect their orders. Customers can place orders seven days in advance.

The order checkout process can be completed up to 24 hours before collection for Pak’nSave customers and up to 12 hours for New World Click & Collect and home delivery customers.
