Nido set to close on Sunday as last stock heavily discounted

Furniture and homewares retailer Nido is to cease operations this month.

The company said in a statement that the Nido store will close permanently this Sunday, bringing to an end a receivership sale after no prospective buyers for the business were found.

“The support of staff during the receivership and closing-down period has been outstanding,” said Kare Johnstone, one of the receivers from McGrathNicol.

“However, as there have been no acceptable offers for the business as a going concern, unfortunately the store will now be closing for good.

“The last day of trading is Sunday 21 March and we will close at 6pm. Consequently, all staff will unfortunately need to be made redundant,” he added.

About 60 staffed are affected by the retailer’s demise.

During its last days of trading, Nido is discounting remaining stock at discounts of 70 per cent or more.
