Tech startup helps vets open online stores

Wellington website builder Storbie has created an e-commerce solution allowing New Zealand vets to create their own online stores.

According to the company, the solution was created after Storbie’s second round of funding was secured last year. The move has gained support from the industry with the participation of major pet-food suppliers, including Royal Canin, Masterpet and Hills Pet Nutrition.

“The fact is that the veterinary sector is an essential service in this country, not just for pets but for the primary sector, biosecurity and food safety,” said Kevin Bryant, CEO of The New Zealand Veterinary Association.

“Partnering with Storbie is a key part of helping veterinarians to be more sustainable as businesses and keep operating no matter what challenges come next.”

“Our focus is on building the tools that will create the biggest impact for these business owners,” said Shane Bartle, CEO at Storbie. “Veterinarians should be focused on consulting, diagnosing and caring for your animals, not spending hours uploading product pictures, so we automate that work for them.”
