Hallenstein Glasson shakes up executive team, announces new group CEO

Fashion house Hallenstein Glasson announced a number of executive changes on Thursday, including a new chief executive officer to lead the business.

Stuart Duncan will step up from the role of group chief operating officer to lead the business effective April 1. Duncan has been COO since 2015, and has over 26 years of experience in the retail industry.

Jason Barrow, buying manager of Hallenstein Brothers, will also step up to the role of chief executive of the Hallenstein Brothers brand after nine years with the business.

Group managing director Mary Devine will step down from her position, and revert to a non-executive director role.

“Her mandate to further develop the executive team and deliver on strategic initiatives has been a key enabler in making [these] appointments,” the business said.

In late 2020, the business revealed the pandemic had hit it in the bottom line, with profit down 4 per cent to $27 million.

According to Stuff, the business has no plans to repay the $8.4 million it took in government support across New Zealand and Australia.
