The Commerce Commission has filed nine charges against NZ retailer Noel Leeming Group, alleging that it misrepresented consumers’ rights under the Consumers Guarantees Act.
Each charge relates to a different complaint filed against the retailer relating to alleged conduct between September 2015 and January 2017 at eight Noel Leeming stores.
The charges follow an investigation into complaints that allege customers were misled about the right to seek remedies for faulty goods from Noel Leeming and not the manufacturer, the right to refund for a faulty product and the right to a replacement for a faulty product, the commission said.
The charges are scheduled to be heard before the Auckland District Court on 29 May.
