NZ’s duty free shopping

Auckland AirportThe arrival of Auckland Airport’s two new international duty free retailers, Aer Rianta International and LS Travel Retail Pacific, spell the arrival of New Zealand’s new duty free shopping experience from June 29 2015.

Aer Rianta International will trade as The Loop Duty Free and LS Travel Retail Pacific will trade as Aelia Duty Free.

The retailers were selected in February following the completion of an international tender process, and will be Auckland Airport’s two main duty free operators. They replace the existing operators, DFS and JR Duty Free.

Auckland Airport’s GM for retail and commercial,Richard Barker, says, “Auckland Airport is committed to providing passengers with a shopping experience that represents the very best of NZ and the world.

“The Loop and Aelia will be introducing exciting new local and international brands to the airport. In time, these will be complemented by a wide range of new stores once Auckland Airport completes the expansion of its international departure area in late-2017.

“We are committed to ensuring that a comprehensive range of duty free products are available for passengers to purchase at the terminal during the month it will take to transition to The Loop and Aelia.”

LS Travel Retail Pacific CEO, Matthieu Mercier, says, “Our Aelia Duty Free concept, tailored specifically for Auckland Airport, will offer innovative ideas and see many ‘firsts’ for the airport. Our vision to intrigue, experience and indulge will form the backbone of our new store, with customers able to try before they buy – everything from chocolate and fragrance to liquor.”

Aer Rianta International CEO, Jack MacGowan, was equally thrilled about The Loop opening in Auckland. “We are very much looking forward to bringing our innovative retail offer to Auckland Airport, providing travellers with an award-winning shopping experience in store as well as online,” he says.
