Raumati Beach PostShop fate not sealed

New_Zealand_PostWednesday’s meeting to save Raumati Beach’s local PostShop has been applauded as successful and constructive.

The meeting included NZ Post CE), Brian Roche; Raumati Beach Mayor, Ross Church; Mana Electorate MP, Kris Faafoi; and a community representative.

The meeting was the culmination of widespread local rejection of NZ Post’s decision to close Raumati Beach’s PostShop on May 22.

NZ Post heeded Faafoi’s declaration that it is called upon to “listen to locals on this one” as Church reported that the meeting was very positive.

He said NZ Post took to heart the community’s message and has agreed to provide feedback within 24 hours on extending the May 22 deadline to enable interested parties to tap into various possibilities to retain postal services in the community.

“Overall there is consensus that while NZ Post’s business model is changing fast, it needs to make sure it keeps providing basic services in the community,” said Faafoi.
