NorthWest Shopping Centre, only major new shopping centre currently being developed in the Auckland region, is on track for an October opening.
The new centre is part of Westgate Town Centre, one of the largest urbanisation projects in New Zealand in Auckland’s north west. The shopping centre is adjacent to the existing Westgate Shopping Centre and will service a catchment area of 475,000 people living within a 15minute drive.
The enclosed centre includes a Countdown supermarket, Farmers department store, and 100 specialty retail stores. It will be the first new shopping centre to be opened in full, not in stages.
NorthWest Shopping Centre manager, Jennifer Andrews, said the centre will serve a growing population hungry for excitement and diversity in retail.
“People in areas as far north as Albany, Waimauku, and Helensville through to south west Auckland will find it easy to access NorthWest Shopping Centre thanks to the infrastructure that’s been built over the past few years,” said Andrews.
“We expect the fact that the centre will open as a complete complex will appeal to those who want an attractive and accessible shopping experience from day one, and we look forward to meeting the community’s expectations.
“We have already secured a strong fashion mix anchored by some iconic New Zealand and Australian brands. We have a comprehensive health and beauty offer, a full range of retail services, and a food offer that will include a food court and café style dining to satisfy every appetite.”
The centre will span 27,000sqm and will be owned, developed, and managed by DNZ Property Fund.
