New flagships for Shotover St

Former Outside Sports store on Shotover St

A former Outside Sports store in Queenstown will become home to a new The North Face concept store and Queenstown’s first Barkers location.

The tenancy at 6/38 Shotover St in Queenstown will be reconfigured to make way for the two stores, and will  mark the first of a number of changes set to happen in the street.

Outside Sports has relocated to a new purpose built building.

Bakerloo Holdings, owner of the building, will redesign the ground floor into three new retail stores to open in time for Winterfest in June 2015.

Nathan Male, director of retail agency Metro Commercial, which leased the spaces said the relocation of Outside Sports creates a superb opportunity to put three brands new to Queenstown alongside each other.

Simon McChesney-Clark, GM of Retail at True Alliance, which owns The North Face, said the outdoors retailers has been seeking a  flagship location in Queenstown for quite some time.

“We’re delighted to announce the upcoming opening of the first The North Face retail concept store outside of Auckland in Bakerloo’s building,” said McChesney-Clark.

Jamie Whiting, MD of Barkers, has also been seeking a suitable location. “The Barkers brand has been significantly repositioned over the past three years. Queenstown has long been a gap in our coverage, and with the A grade retail space Bakerloo are developing, plus customer demand, we decided the opportunity was right for us,” Whiting said.

The third store for the building is currently being finalised.
