Supermarket expansion underway

trolley, shopping, cart, supermarket, groceries, shopper Pak’nSave Richmond in Nelson has begun a multi-million dollar expansion, to completed by the end of the year.

“The extension will increase the floor area of the existing Pak’nSave by 750sqm,” said Roger Davidson, GM of property and development, Foodstuffs South Island.

The refurbished supermarket will include a new 620sqm loading dock along with a partially covered pedestrian walkway.

The walkway will join Richmond Mall with Kmart and The Warehouse on the opposite side of the car park.

Davidson said the Richmond area has been in growth for some time.

“The economy is quite buoyant and there is definitely confidence in the region – the Pak’nSave development is part of our long term plan for continued investment in the area and the community,” he said.

“The project promises to improve our customers shopping experience as the new space will allow us to improve shopping flow and present an even larger range of low cost, high value products.”

The store will continue to be operational during the expansion.
