Specsavers gathers franchise awards

Specsavers & Martin Bremner Cat WinnerSpecsavers New Zealand has been awarded the Westpac Franchise System of the Year ‘Supreme Award’ in the first year the company has entered the Westpac NZ Franchise Awards.

The franchise, which has 51 stores nationwide, won every category that it entered, including Retail – Franchise System, Retail, Food & Beverage – Franchise System of the Year, and the Supreme Award.

“Our decision to enter the awards this year was partly to test ourselves and our systems against the best in the franchising industry. Winning the Supreme Award – Westpac Franchise System of the Year across all categories is a real honour as we strive to be the best at franchising,” Brendan Thompson, Specsavers’ retail director, said.

It was the company’s first opportunity in NZ to benchmark its systems against others, such as The Coffee Club and Green Acres, he said.

The judges praised Specsavers for its systems, customer focus, and joint partnership model.

They also commented on how Specsavers moved a high cost product into a volume business via a strong customers focus, resulting in excellent results.
