Lion is recalling 2538 cases of Steinlager Ultra Low Carb beer after some bottles were found to be incorrectly labelled alcohol-free. The products have only been sold in New Zealand.
Identified through a consumer complaint, the company found an error in a production run resulting in clear bottles containing Steinlager Ultra Low Carb beer ABV 4.2 per cent, which were labelled as Steinlager Alcohol Free. Cases may contain a mix of clear bottles, each labelled for both products.
Customers can identify affected products by checking the Steinlager Alcohol Free front label displayed on a clear bottle with a best-before date of 21/10/2026.
Lion says it is recalling all 2538 cases (each 24-pack) of the affected product.
“If you have a clear bottle labelled Steinlager Alcohol Free Label it is not alcohol free,” emphasised the company. “Steinlager Alcohol Free is only sold in green bottles, not clear bottles.”
Anyone who may have consumed this product and is concerned about their health should consult their health care professional, the company advises.
