Foodstuffs NZ taps Flybuys executive for new chief customer officer role

Deirdre Boyle is currently the chief customer officer at Flybuys.

Foodstuffs NZ has appointed Deirdre Boyle as its chief customer officer (CCO), effective May 18.

The appointment comes as Foodstuffs implements changes to increase its focus on customers. These include the formation of a new national customer team and expanded customer engagement activity to understand shopping behaviour better and inform improvements across in-store and online channels.

Originally from Hawke’s Bay, Boyle has more than 20 years of experience in leading product, digital, customer experience and marketing roles across the banking and insurance sectors in Australia.

She currently serves as CCO at Flybuys Australia, the loyalty program jointly owned by Coles Group and Wesfarmers.

“I’m looking forward to returning to New Zealand and joining an iconic business with a clear sense of purpose and a real impact on its customers, communities and people,” Boyle said.

“Both co-ops play an important role in communities across the country,” she added. “I’m keen to help strengthen those connections and deliver real value for New Zealanders across a strong portfolio of brands.”

During the transition period, Brendon Lawry will continue to lead the customer team on secondment until Boyle formally assumes the role. He will then return to his position as CEO of Liquorland following completion of the transition.

Foodstuffs said Boyle’s appointment comes as the two co-operatives continue changes to increase their focus on customers.
