French luxury group LVMH has appointed Laura Burdese as CEO of Italian high jewellery maison Bulgari, effective July next year.

As part of the transition, incumbent CEO Jean-Christophe Babin will step down from the role but will continue as chairman of the board, chief of the Bulgari’s hotel business unit, and president of the Bulgari Foundation.

Burdese joined LVMH in 2016 and initially served as CEO of Italian fragrance brand Acqua di Parma.

She moved to Bulgari three years ago, where she led marketing and communications before being promoted to deputy CEO last year.

Commenting on the appointment, Stephane Bianchi, LVMH group managing director and CEO of LVMH Watches and Jewelry, commended Burdese and Babin for “elevating” the house.

“The nomination of Laura, while opening a new chapter for Bulgari, is a tribute to her strong contribution and accomplishments.”

Bianchi also praised Babin, who has held senior leadership roles at Tag Heuer and Bulgari for more than 25 years.

“Jean-Christophe has shaped the success of Tag Heuer and Bulgari while creating distinct paths within their respective industries,” he added.

“In his new roles, I am confident he will bring the same energy and continue supporting LVMH and its maisons through his vision.”
