New World Point Chevalier will open its doors early in September, with construction progressing faster than planned.
Developed by Foodstuffs North Island, the store is located at 1132 Great North Road. Development on the site, purchased in January 2023, began in December and is now nearing completion just 18 months later.
The $73 million development features a 2752sqm retail space on a 7142sqm site, with 105 car parks, six staffed checkouts, and eight self-checkouts. Above the store, 2000sqm of mixed-use office space and 147sqm of additional retail will add to the offering along Great North Road.
“We’re proud to be investing in Point Chev and excited to bring forward the opening – the new store will be ready to go in time for spring,” said Lindsay Rowles, GM of retail and property at Foodstuffs North Island.
The store will be owned and operated by Matthew and Nicole Mullins, current owners of New World Otaki.
“We’re really excited to be joining the Point Chev community,” said Matthew Mullins. “We’ve loved being part of things in Otaki, and we’re looking forward to bringing that same energy and local focus up to Auckland. For us, it’s not just about opening a store, it’s about settling in, getting to know people, and being part of something special here.”
