The Warehouse launches a pilot trial of frozen ready meals

New Zealand discount department store The Warehouse is testing frozen-ready meals at its Manukau store as part of its expanding foray into groceries.

Dubbed The Market Kitchen, the frozen-ready meals are available in three options: Lasagne, Smokey Bacon Mac & Cheese, and Cottage Pie. Each meal is priced at $20 and serves four people.

In addition, all frozen-ready meals are locally made and have no preservatives, artificial flavours or colours.

Ryan Murphy, the chapter lead for buying goods and consumables, The Warehouse, says that the trial of frozen products is part of ensuring the company can provide affordable grocery items that Kiwis need and want.

“This is our first test and learn of frozen products, so we must get this right and pilot our approach,” said Murphy.

“We can’t wait to hear what customers think of our three options, and if they love it as much as we do, we will look at expanding the trial into more stores across the motu.”

Last year the company began selling fresh produce.
