Asics says its new sneaker offers the lowest CO2 emissions of any brand

Asics, the sports shoe maker, says it has created sneakers with the lightest CO2 emissions on the market – the Gel-Lyte III CM 1.95 – which it says minimises impact on the planet without compromising on quality or design.

One of the shoe’s key features is carbon-negative foam in the midsole and sock liner combined with softer cushioning properties for underfoot comfort.

The upper and sock liner mesh are also made with recycled materials and a solution-dyed polyester to help reduce the overall impact on the environment.

Go Suzuki, executive officer and senior GM for Asics SportStyle, said the brand is “committed” to reaching the goal of becoming net-zero emissions by 2050.

“Not only is the sneaker the lightest CO2 emissions sneaker on the market, but we are also confident that it is one of the most aesthetically compelling shoes, on top of being very comfortable for users’ daily activities.”

The sneaker will be available from September 22 in Cream/Glacier Grey colours online and in select stores for US$150.
