First South Island Lego-certified store set to open

Danish toy manufacturer Lego Group is set to open South Island’s first Lego-certified store in Westfield Riccarton, Christchurch, on June 24.

The 259sqm flagship features built-in tributes to local landmarks with immersive 3D models and sets in addition to the signature ‘Pick & Build’ wall and a Build a Minifigure station.

Retail investment platform Alquemie Group – which currently operates 13 Lego-certified stores across Australia and New Zealand – said consumers are “seeking opportunities to play, customise retail experiences and have fun”.

Matthew Robertson, MD of licensed brands at Alquemie Group, said New Zealand’s South Island has been in the brand’s sights for some time as an “ideal venue” for a new Lego-certified store.

Paul Gardner, regional centre experience manager at Scentre Group, said the opening of the new global format store will come as “exciting news” to the Christchurch community.
