Westfield says all of its Living Centres across the country will trade for extended hours in the leadup to Christmas, with most remaining open until 10pm daily and one until midnight.

The company says the decision will allow customers to shop at a time that suits them during what is traditionally the busiest trading period of the year.

It was made after Westfield’s research showed three in four consumers have used – or plan to use – extended trading hours to shop for Christmas, such as shopping after children have gone to bed or stopping off at a mall on the way home from work. 

“Keeping our centres open for longer, trading later into the evening can make all the difference for busy families, and is just one of the ways we’re helping to make Christmas more convenient for customers,” said Scentre Group GM of centre experience, Karen Skinner.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming customers into our centres at a time that suits them in the lead up to Christmas.” 

Westfield has released a guide to Christmas trading hours: 

December 15-21 & 23: Westfield Albany, Manukau City, St Lukes, Riccarton and Newmarket will trade from 9am-10pm.  

December 22: Westfield Albany, Manukau City, St Lukes, and Riccarton will trade from 9am-while Westfield Newmarket will trade from 9am-midnight .

December 24 (Christmas Eve): Westfield Albany, Manukau City, St Lukes, and Riccarton will trade from 9am-6pm, while Westfield Newmarket will trade from 9am-7pm.
