DoorDash has confirmed details of its New Zealand launch, opening in Wellington today before expanding into other centres.

The service extends beyond Wellington, into adjacent cities like Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and neighbourhoods in Johnsonville and Porirua. Apart from food delivery, customers can also order from a range of convenience and specialty stores.

Rebecca Burrows, GM of DoorDash Australia and New Zealand, said the country has a vibrant and exciting food scene and the business’ arrival opens new opportunities for local residents.

“The ‘Dashers’ (couriers) who use our platform are stay-at-home parents, students, small business owners, and others who value the ability to flexibly earn supplemental income. They choose to dash because the platform allows them to work when, where, and how they want,” she said.

To celebrate the launch, the company is offering new customers 50 per cent off their first two orders and free delivery for the first 30 days.

Worldwide, the platform connects 25 million consumers with more than 550,000 local businesses and restaurants in 7,000 cities.
