Burberry opens its first New Zealand store

Burberry has opened its first retail store in New Zealand, located inside Westfield Newmarket and decked out in the brand’s newest interior design concept.

Fitting with the brand’s Kiwi debut, the store will display exclusive products including the TB Bag in deep maroon which features the initials of the fashion house’s founder, Thomas Burberry.

The store was designed in collaboration with architect Vinzcenzo De Cotiis who – in Burberry’s words – used “juxtaposing brutalists elements with luxurious materials to create a distinctly modern feel”.

Display fixtures, plinths and unique furniture pieces designed by Vinzcenzo and with a variety of textures including concrete, ceramics and high-gloss finishes. The core beige, black, white and red colours of Burberry feature throughout the space.

This week, non-essential retailers in Auckland have been allowed to trade after a long-running lockdown aimed at slowing the spread of Covid-19.

Located within Westfield Newmarket’s new luxury precinct, Burberry’s store will house Burberry’s latest collections for men and women including styles from the Autumn/Winter 2021 runway, the house’s heritage trench coats, classic outerwear silhouettes and iconic bag styles including the Lola, the Pocket and the Olympia.
