Alceon to open first certified Lego store in New Zealand

Alceon and The Lego Group will open the first certified Lego store at Auckland’s Westfield Newmarket on October 31.

The 219sqm store will feature the retailer’s famous pick-a-brick wall that showcases an array of pieces to select from; a build-your-own-minifigure station, where visitors can custom build their own Lego minifigure including heads, torsos, legs, hats and accessories; free-build zones and Lego play tables that allow children the opportunity to get creative and build whatever they imagine and a large Lego range, including hard-to-find products; and custom Lego brick engraving.

“We look forward to unveiling New Zealand’s first Lego certified store and welcoming brick fans of all ages from across the country to this custom-built Lego experience,” said Richard Facioni, executive director of Alceon Group.

The new store, located on the third level of the mall, will be a custom-built interactive retail space that will include signature 3D-models of New Zealand icons built out of bricks, including an Auckland skyline mosaic built with 318,208 bricks, a Bungee mosaic with 39,733 bricks and Bungee 3D model, a Lego world first which involved 40,177 bricks.

According to the retailer’s spokesperson, they are always open to the idea of opening more stores in the country but can’t confirm anything just yet.

“Our current focus is on the new Auckland store.”

On opening day, the first 100 people to visit the store will receive a free gift and those who spend $199 or more in one transaction will receive a limited-edition Lego store set.
