Shanton went into voluntary administration in January, closing 17 of its 37 stores, before being put into liquidation in June owing $7.8 million to some creditors.
Forthwith Auckland based Revolucija Limited, headed by Juliana Yelavich, purchased Shanton, and in its resurrected format it features 13 refurbished stores.
Yelavich’s company Volapuk, which specialises in streetwear, was owed money when the chain went into liquidation.
Three new stores in Dominion Rd Auckland, Tauranga and Pukekohe, along with 10 rebranded and refitted stores, are showcasing the brand.
Shanton’s 13 stores, which will feature new clothes every fortnight to prevent stale fashion, are now effectively located at Mt Eden, Dunedin, Feilding, Hastings, New Plymouth, Pakuranga, Pukekohe, Rotorua, Rotorua Mall, Tauranga, Te Awamutu, Whanganui, Whangarei, and online.
The Shanton brand has been firmly favoured for the past four decades as an affordable fashion option.
