Nosh Food Market is extending its retail footprint by opening a new flagship store in Pakuranga to serve Auckland’s Eastern Bays.
The Pakuranga store is the eighth in the Nosh network and marks a turning point in the evolution of a business that has been through significant change over the last two years.
Listed investor, Veritas Group, purchased Nosh in late 2014.
“Over the last months the business has seen consolidation and a greater focus on both the supplier network and the customer experience. This effort has paid off with the expansion into the Eastern Bays with a new store,” says board chairman, Tim Cook.
“This store is an important development for the Nosh Food Market business. We see it as the blueprint for the future for Nosh, with a new modern layout which should provide a better instore experience for customers.
“Rod de Vries, our GM, and the wider Nosh team have worked extremely hard to deliver a high-calibre grocery experience that will set the standard for the Nosh Food Market business moving forward.”
According to de Vries, a focus on delivering excellent quality and value along with expert advice and knowledge to achieve that gourmet standard is what sets Nosh apart from its competitors and endears it to an already large base of existing customers.
“Our growth depends on people – both those in our teams and those in each community we join,” he points out.
“We plan to put far more emphasis on our people as they are our most unique and important asset.
“For our staff, our commitment to training, engagement and performance will continue to grow; and in our communities we will strive to support and contribute to each of our local areas.
“In Pakuranga enquiries and interest have been so intense that we’re delighted to be joining this community to begin delivering a little gourmet every day.
“I’m really pleased that Nosh is supporting the local community by employing local folk too. It’s great to see that our part time team are made up of many local youngsters from the surrounding high schools in the area. It’s fantastic to be supporting our youngsters and I know that our team will be mentoring, coaching and encouraging these youngsters to help them learn more about food, the retail sector and business in general. It’s a win-win for us all.”
The new Pakuranga store opens on Monday. It will be stocking the full Nosh range, including deli, bakery, produce, grocery, butchery, seafood and alcohol, as well as containing a small cafe. The store boasts a 689sqm floor plate and will be stocking over 3,000 product lines. It will have a team of 32 staff, which includes 13 students, and will operate from 0800 to 1900 seven days a week.
