Torpedo7 relaunches as multi-channel retailer

Torpedo7The online outdoor adventure sport specialist Torpedo7 has relaunched as a multi-channel retailer, incorporating bricks and mortar sister company R&R Sports and two brand new stores.

The existing online site and the nine R&R Sport stores throughout New Zealand will be rebranded as Torpedo7, with a revamped website, a new logo and the tag line ‘See you out there’.

In addition to the rebranding of the nine R&R Sport stores as Torpedo7, two new stores are opening in Auckland in former Good Guys retail sites.

The Mt Wellington store is located opposite Sylvia Park, and the Albany store is within the outdoor mall on Don McKinnon Drive.

Achieving another first with its ‘store within a store concept’, both the stores will have a No1 Fitness store situated within the Torpedo7 sites.

A 10th Torpedo7 store is planned to Taupo prior to Christmas.

The Warehouse Group CEO, Mark Powell, said that within the Group a great deal of effort has gone into the successful integration of Torpedo7 and R&R Sport.

“Torpedo7 now has a unique customer offering of the widest range of outdoor adventure sport products under one roof and website.”

“The combination of two of New Zealand’s most dynamic outdoor adventure retailers offers huge opportunity. Customer service based on deep product knowledge and a love of the outdoors among the whole team is a major advantage,” he said.

“With this consolidation and rebranding complete, we are now in a position to move forward in a number of areas, with ongoing growth driven by an ever improving product range and unbeatable service.”

With the goal of creating NZ’s leading multi-channel outdoor adventure sport retailer, The Warehouse Group acquired Torpedo7 in April 2013, followed by R&R Sport in December 2013.

“Bringing together Torpedo7 and R&R Sport draws on a 40 year heritage of outdoor and adventure sports and will offer Kiwis unprecedented access to high quality outdoor recreational gear at the best prices,” Powell said.
