Mattel has extended its multi-year global licensing agreement with Disney for Toy Story, securing rights to develop a new range of toys ahead of the animated film’s 30th anniversary and the release of Toy Story 5 next year.
The agreement allows Mattel to produce Toy Story-themed action figures, vehicles, radio-controlled toys, games and plush products.
Under the renewed deal, Mattel plans to introduce a new lineup of toys inspired by Toy Story 5, including an Uno game with custom rules, a plush range, and radio-controlled products designed to bring key movie moments to life.
The company will also expand its existing collaborations like Kerplunk! and Tumblin’ Monkeys continuing to feature Toy Story themes.
Additionally, Mattel’s Little People collection will incorporate characters and scenes from the franchise, while a new Imaginext lineup is set to debut.
“Throughout the many years of Disney’s collaboration with Mattel, fans have taken their imagination and love for Toy Story characters to infinity and beyond through the magic of play,” said Paul Southern, SVP, global brand commercialization, at Disney Consumer Products.
“We will pay tribute to the legacy of this beloved brand and its influence on culture while engaging with new and existing fans.”
Mattel and Disney’s partnership on Toy Story dates back to the 1990s.
