US restaurant brand Chuck E Cheese heads Down Under

Chuck E Cheese is to expand its footprint into Australia through a multi-store partnership with Royale Hospitality Group.

Headquartered in Texas, the American family entertainment restaurant brand was launched in 1977 by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. The company has recently been expanding into new markets including in Asia and Europe and has almost 600 stores worldwide.

Chuck E Cheese boasts of its family-friendly arcade games, pizza and entertainment, making the centre among the top choices for birthday celebrations and family events.

“This is a momentous step towards establishing Chuck E Cheese as the premier destination for families seeking an unparalleled kid-centric entertainment and dining experience,” said Ray Strauss, MD of Royale Hospitality.

“We are thrilled to bring the magic of Chuck E Cheese to Australia and to collaborate with the Royale Hospitality Group, a partner that shares our commitment to delivering exceptional family experiences,” said Chuck E Cheese International COO Mario Centola.

Chuck E Cheese filed for bankruptcy in 1984 and was subsequently bought by Brock Hotel Corporation parent of rival chain ShowBiz Pizza Place. In 1990 the two chains were merged under the name Chuck E Cheese’s Pizza, which was later abbreviated to Chuck E Cheese.
